Case filed over robbery at cold storage in Rajshahi
A case has been filed in connection with the robbery at Desh Cold Store (Himagar) in Mohanpur Upazila of Rajshahi. The case was filed at Mohanpur Police Station around 11:30 pm on Thursday by the manager of the cold store, Akbar Ali. 30 to 35 unidentified people have been accused in it. Officer-in-charge of Mohanpur Police Station, Ataur Rahman, said that the case shows a loss of more than 3.5 lakh taka and about 6 million taka in looting of equipment. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Earlier, a robbery incident took place at Desh Cold Store around 1:30 am on Wednesday.
The cold store authorities said that the robbers entered the cold store with their faces covered and without shoes on their feet. First, they tied the hands and feet of the security guards and then the workers in the cold store. They stayed in the cold store until 4 am. During this time, the robbers looted parts and metal items stored in various places, including the power house and engineering department of the cold store. 1 lakh 80 thousand taka was looted from the office. In addition, they also took 1.5 lakh taka belonging to the workers. The office and cupboard were vandalized. Later, at around 4:30 am, a worker called the manager of the cold store and informed about the matter. Later in the morning, the cold store authorities along with the Mohanpur police station arrived. 1 lakh 80 thousand bags of potatoes are stored in the cold store. Akbar Ali, manager of Desh Cold Store, said that a case has been filed against 30 to 35 people as unknown accused in this incident. The case shows a loss of 63 lakh 35 thousand taka. The police are investigating the incident. Regarding the opening of the cold store, he said that many farmers and traders have potatoes stored here. They have been working to open the cold store since yesterday morning. Many of the equipment are from outside the country. They are buying some equipment locally and opening the cold store with them. The work has already progressed a long way.
